The Kyiv Poznan route takes you to western Poland along a more northerly road than routes to Krakow or Katowice. From Kyiv, the car heads towards Volyn, crosses the border at Yahodyn and continues through Lublin to the A2 motorway. This motorway takes you directly to Greater Poland. Your journey starts outside your home in Kyiv and ends at your chosen address in Poznań. There are no railway stations or transfers with luggage along the way. This route suits passengers traveling to Greater Poland for work, education or a flight from POZ.
Kyiv Poznan: Distance, Travel Time and Price
The distance between Kyiv and Poznań is approximately 1,090 km. You can see the route on Google Maps. Driving takes from 12 to 14 hours, excluding border crossing time.
Plan your Kyiv Poznan journey as a full-day trip. An early morning departure allows you to travel across Ukraine and reach the border during daylight. Our manager will recommend a departure time that helps you arrive at Yahodyn during the day. Yahodyn is located in Volyn, so this route does not pass through Lviv.
The price starts from UAH 31,700, and we fix it before departure. The final amount depends on the number of passengers and the vehicle class.
Buses also operate to Poznań, but they arrive at the bus station according to a fixed schedule.
Poznań is not the only Polish city we serve. If your destination is closer to Silesia, consider our Kyiv to Katowice car service. If Poland is only an intermediate destination, explore our private car transfers from Ukraine.
Northern Route: Yahodyn, Lublin and the A2 Motorway
After leaving Kyiv, the car heads northwest towards Kovel. From there, the Yahodyn border checkpoint is a short drive away, with Dorohusk on the Polish side. The M07 highway leads to the border, where the crossing passes over the Western Bug River. This is our main route to Poznań because it leads towards Chełm and Lublin without a southern detour.
Krakovets and Rava-Ruska remain alternative border crossings. We consider them if queues at Yahodyn are particularly long on your travel date. Before departure, our manager checks border conditions and agrees on the final checkpoint with you.
Border control time depends on the queue, so we cannot guarantee an exact waiting time. You remain in the same vehicle throughout the journey from Kyiv into Poland.
Chełm and Lublin are close to the border, making them convenient places for your first stop in Poland. You can exchange money, buy a Polish SIM card or have a meal. Chełm is known for its historic chalk tunnels beneath the old town, which are open to visitors. Lublin is the largest Polish city east of the Vistula River.
From Lublin to Poznań via the S17 and A2
From Lublin, the route heads towards Poland’s capital along the S17 expressway. Warsaw is directly on the route, and we offer a separate Kyiv Warsaw by car service. Beyond Warsaw, the car joins the A2 motorway. It continues west past Łódź towards Poznań. Near Łódź, in Stryków, the A2 intersects with the A1 motorway. Approaching Poznań, the motorway bypasses the city to the south. The driver exits the motorway near your final destination.
The A2 motorway has two lanes in each direction and designated rest areas. If you want lunch in Łódź or Warsaw, tell the driver, and they can enter the city.
The same route is available in the opposite direction. The Poznan Kyiv journey passes through Lublin and Yahodyn, with pickup at your address in Poznań.
Kyiv Poznan for Work and Studies in Greater Poland
Poznań, the capital of Greater Poland Voivodeship, is located on the Warta River. The region lies in western Poland, closer to Germany than to Ukraine. Greater Poland has a developed industrial sector, attracting many Ukrainians seeking employment. Factories and large logistics warehouses around Poznań employ workers on different shifts.
For these passengers, arriving at their accommodation or workplace is more important than reaching a railway station. That is why the Kyiv Poznan route ends at your specified address. This could be a dormitory, a rented apartment or a factory entrance.
Moving to Poland for a new job usually involves bringing plenty of belongings. These may include seasonal clothing, work shoes and everyday essentials. If your shift starts on a specific day, plan to arrive the day before. This gives you time to rest after the journey.
Friends or colleagues often travel together to the same factory or warehouse. Booking one vehicle for several passengers allows them to share the travel cost. For groups carrying multiple bags, we can provide a more spacious vehicle.
Another group of passengers travels to Poznań for education. The city is home to Adam Mickiewicz University and Poznan University of Technology, where students from Ukraine study. At the beginning of a semester, students bring belongings for several months. Many travel with parents who want to see their dormitory or apartment in person.
The academic year at Polish universities begins in autumn, so students often book their journeys in advance. During university holidays, they return home, and we pick them up directly from their dormitories.
Poznań Airport, Luggage and Pets
Poznań–Ławica Airport (POZ) is located just 7 km from the city center. You can therefore reach the terminal shortly after entering the city. The airport is named after violinist and composer Henryk Wieniawski and is situated in western Poznań.
Border queues usually require a larger time allowance than the final drive through the city. We calculate your departure time from Kyiv based on your flight and include extra time at Yahodyn. We follow the same approach for our airport transfers to other cities.
After arriving at POZ, the driver picks you up at the terminal and heads east towards the A2 motorway. From there, the journey home follows the same northern route through Lublin and Yahodyn.
If you are relocating for work or studies with boxes and several suitcases, consider booking a minivan. Its larger luggage compartment provides more space for your belongings.
Your pet can travel with you. A veterinary passport is required for your pet when crossing the border at Dorohusk.
Parents traveling to Poznań with children should review the conditions on our traveling with children page. This is especially important because the journey takes a full day.
To book your trip, simply provide your travel date, pickup address in Kyiv and destination address in Poznań. If you are flying from POZ, include your flight number.
