The Kyiv to Katowice journey by private car begins right outside your home in Kyiv. It ends at the Katowice Airport (KTW) terminal or at your chosen address in Katowice. Between these points, you do not need to change vehicles or carry your suitcases between different types of transport. Your luggage stays in the trunk from the first kilometer to the last, and the same driver accompanies you throughout the journey. This is a convenient way to catch a flight, travel to work or visit relatives in Silesia. We transport individual passengers, families and small groups. Below, we explain the distance, the route across the border and transportation to the airport.
Kyiv to Katowice: Distance, Travel Time and Price
The distance from Kyiv to Katowice is approximately 944 km. You can also check the distance using the doba distance calculator. The journey takes from 10 to 12 hours, excluding waiting time at the border.
The route through Ukraine passes through Zhytomyr, Rivne and Lviv. In Poland, you travel through Rzeszow and Krakow, after which only a short section remains before reaching Katowice. You can stop for coffee, lunch or a rest whenever you wish.
A long journey is easier with regular breaks. The driver does not rush and stops wherever it is convenient for you, whether at a gas station, a roadside café or a shop. During your Kyiv to Katowice journey, you can get out, stretch your legs and return to your seat in the vehicle. We recommend departing in the morning so that most of the journey takes place during daylight hours. Bring a phone charger, headphones or a book into the passenger compartment.
Border queues can cause delays on this route of almost a thousand kilometers. That is why the price, starting from 27,400 UAH, is fixed before departure and does not increase due to waiting time. The final amount depends on the number of passengers and the vehicle class.
If another Polish city is closer to your destination, we offer separate routes. You can travel to Krakow using our Kyiv to Krakow route. For passengers heading to Warsaw, we offer Kyiv Warsaw by car. Passengers from the Zakarpattia region may find our Uzhgorod to Katowice transfer more convenient.
Kyiv to Katowice Airport: Direct Transportation to the Terminal
Katowice Airport (KTW) is located in Pyrzowice, north of Katowice. The distance from the city center to the terminal ranges from 30 to 34 km. Buses from Ukraine take passengers to the bus station in the city center. From there, you need additional transportation to the terminal by shuttle bus or taxi. We bypass the city and take you directly to the terminal entrance. This means you do not depend on shuttle schedules or need to search for a bus stop with your suitcases in an unfamiliar city.
Provide your flight number and departure time, and our manager will calculate the appropriate pickup time in Kyiv. The calculation includes the airline’s check-in requirements and extra time for crossing the border. For an early morning flight from Pyrzowice, this may mean leaving Kyiv the previous evening. If you have a connecting flight at another airport, you only need to provide the details of your first flight departing from KTW. Our manager will also use the flight number to confirm the correct terminal.
The Kyiv to Katowice Airport route is also available in the opposite direction. After arriving at KTW, a vehicle will be waiting to take you directly from Pyrzowice to Kyiv. The same conditions apply to pricing and stops, and you should provide your flight number in advance.
For passengers traveling via Lviv, Katowice Airport (KTW) is located near the A4 motorway, so there is no need to enter other cities. The journey to the terminal continues along the same route you followed from the border.
You can learn more about how we organize journeys for scheduled flights on our airport transfer page.
Traveling via Lviv and Crossing the Border Without Changing Vehicles
After Lviv, the vehicle heads towards one of three border checkpoints: Krakovets, Shehyni or Rava-Ruska. We choose the most suitable crossing together with you before departure, taking current border traffic into account.
Krakovets provides direct access to Poland’s A4 motorway. Rava-Ruska is located further north, so it is less commonly considered for trips to Katowice. Shehyni serves as an alternative when there are long vehicle queues at Krakovets.
No one can predict exactly how long border control will take. Therefore, we do not guarantee a specific waiting time. We always allow extra time for the border crossing, with an even larger allowance when you need to catch a flight.
While the vehicle is waiting in the queue, you can remain in the warm passenger compartment. You can rest, sleep or work on your laptop. The driver monitors the queue and moves the vehicle forward when necessary.
There is no need to cross the border on foot. You cross in the same vehicle that picked you up in Kyiv, keeping your international passport within easy reach. Your suitcases remain in the trunk, and your belongings stay with you throughout the journey.
After crossing the border, the vehicle joins the A4 motorway and continues towards Silesia. You can take breaks on both the Ukrainian and Polish sections of the route. In Ukraine, the road passes through regional cities where cafés and pharmacies are easy to find. Along the A4 motorway, designated rest areas with parking facilities make it convenient to stop without searching for a suitable location.
Stopping in Krakow on the Way to Katowice
Krakow is located along the A4 motorway, so stopping there adds relatively little extra distance to the journey. You can have lunch or take a walk before the final section to Katowice. If you have a flight to catch, please mention this stop in advance so that we can include it in the travel time calculation.
Luggage, Pets and Business Trips to Silesia
Passengers flying from KTW often travel with heavy suitcases, so please specify the number of bags in your booking request. This allows us to provide a minivan instead of a sedan when necessary. Pets need a veterinary passport to cross the Polish border, so keep it together with your travel documents. If you need a child car seat for the 944 km journey, please arrange it when booking. Additional information for parents preparing for a long trip is available on our traveling with children page. We can also accommodate a wheelchair in a minivan, so please mention it in your booking request.
Katowice is a major city in Silesia, and many passengers travel here for work. For them, arriving with their belongings at a specific address is more important than reaching a railway station. That is why the driver takes you directly to your dormitory, apartment or workplace entrance. You can also travel straight to your hotel if you are visiting Katowice on business for several days.
You can also book your return journey with us. We provide return trips under the same conditions: pickup at your address or the airport terminal, a fixed price and border crossing in the same vehicle. If Katowice is not your final destination, explore our private car transfers from Ukraine to other countries.
To submit a booking request, simply provide your travel date, pickup address in Kyiv and destination address in Katowice, or your flight number from KTW. We will discuss the remaining details by phone.
