The route via Yagodyn-Dorohusk is often chosen when you need to avoid Lviv and reduce the time it takes to get from Rivne to the border. The route via Shehyny-Medyka is more popular due to the greater capacity of the checkpoint and the convenient route from Lviv to Krakow via Przemysl and Rzeszow. The driver will agree on a specific route taking into account the queues on the day of the trip.
From Przemyśl to Krakow by road via Rzeszow, the distance is about 230 km. This section takes 2.5-3 hours and runs along well-maintained Polish roads. For route calculation and preliminary planning, it is convenient to use Google Maps with the path between specific checkpoints.
For both routes, it is recommended to leave at night or early in the morning. This will help you avoid peak hours on the route and reduce waiting times at the border. The least busy borders are on weekdays from Monday to Thursday, in the morning or at midnight.

What is included in the price of the Kyiv-Krakow transfer?
The cost of the Kyiv-Krakow transfer depends on the class of the car, the number of passengers and the total amount of luggage. How to cross the border: documents and what to consider
To cross the Polish-Ukrainian border, a Ukrainian citizen needs a passport valid for at least 3 months after the planned return date. Documents confirming the purpose of the trip or place of residence in Poland may also be required: hotel reservation, address of relatives or invitation from the host country.
Men of military age undergo additional checks on the Ukrainian side of the border. The list of documents and restrictions is changing. It is worth checking the current requirements immediately before your trip on the official website of the border guard service.
Practical recommendations before the trip:
- check the expiration date of your passport at least 2 weeks before departure; make sure that the details in your passport match the details in your transfer booking;
- prepare proof of your place of residence or purpose of your trip in Poland;
- have cash in hryvnias for refueling along the way and zlotys for expenses in Poland;
- take water and light food for a long wait at the border; charge your phone and download offline maps of the route.
Crossing the border on a weekday morning or at midnight is usually much faster than on a Friday evening or the day before a holiday. The driver will usually focus on the least busy checkpoint on the date of your trip and can give you an approximate queue situation the day before departure.
On the Polish side, after the checkpoint, a well-maintained road begins through Rzeszow towards Krakow. There are stops at gas stations with coffee shops and bathrooms every 50-80 km. After a long border, a stop for coffee and a warm-up on the Polish side is very helpful.
